Car Care Resolutions

New Year resolutions are made with the best intentions, but many of us fall at the first hurdle. The 'Eat less chocolate' resolution is easily forgotten when you are tempted by the kids selection box leftovers. The 'Gym before work' resolution has to wait until the weather improves when the alarm goes off at 6am on a cold Monday morning. But one resolution you won't want to break is the 'Take better care of my car' resolution.

Check out the Car Care Resolutions you won't want to ditch by mid-January:

1. Check your oil level regularly and keep your car well serviced. Correctly maintained cars can operate more efficiently and help reduce CO2 emissions.

2. Keep a close eye on your tyres - from tread to pressure, it's important to check them regularly.

3. Improve your fuel efficiency by removing unnecessary weight from your back seats or boot, remove empty roof racks and close your windows, especially at higher speeds.

4. Keep it clean! Redeem your Star Rewards Points for a Texaco voucher which can be used at Texaco service stations as payment for the car wash as well as for fuel and shop products.

5. Don't neglect the inside of your car. Make a conscious effort to throw away any litter daily and regularly declutter storage areas like the glove box. Plus, it'll save you any embarrassing 'sorry about the mess' mutterings when picking up an impromptu passenger.

6. Drive smoothly - each time you accelearate or brake suddenly, your engine uses more fuel. It will also make a much more pleasant journey for passengers!

7. Treat your car and fill up with Texaco Supreme fuel whenever you can. It contains a performance additive package which can help keep your engine performing at its best and help keep your car's engine clean.

8. Only use air conditioning when you need to. Air conditioning draws power from the engine and therefore reduces fuel efficiency.

9. By planning your journey in advance you may be able to avoid traffic problems and road closures. Apps such as Waze and Google maps can be used to pick the best time to travel too.
